Is FrodHouse for tree frogs or ground frogs?
FrodHouse is mainly designed as a raised tree frog hotel for climbing frogs. Ground-style frog houses and toad abodes usually sit directly on damp soil like a little ceramic cave. FrodHouse is different: it gives climbing frogs a sheltered vertical hangout with rain capture, plant spots, and a raised platform. Basically, less hobbit hole, more questionable frog apartment complex.
Why is it raised?
Tree frogs are built for the vertical lifestyle, so FrodHouse is designed to work above ground on a pipe, fence, pond, or garden setup. Raising a frog hotel can also make it less inviting to ground-based party crashers like cane toads. Not toad-proof. Nature is legally allowed to be annoying.
What does the rain capture do?
The rain-capture ceiling helps direct water into the house so the Frod zone can stay moist between top-ups. Frogs need clean, chemical-free moisture around their habitat, so the best setup is shade, plants, no pesticides, and water that is refreshed when needed.
Is it a replacement for a frog pond?
No. FrodHouse is a shelter/hotel and hydration spot, not a full breeding pond. Frogs actively look for safe places to hydrate, and the shallow pool gives them an easy place to rest while soaking without dealing with a deep open pond situation. Being raised off the ground can also help keep the hangout safer from ground-level chaos like cats, dogs, and other pets. Think luxury frog accommodation with a hydration station, not the entire frog suburb.
What is it made from?
FrodHouse is 3D printed from plant-based PLA+ and designed for outdoor use. It is not meant to be thrown into the garden or home-composted. Durable printed frog architecture, not disposable eco-confetti.
Will it attract frogs?
It gives frogs a better reason to visit, but frogs remain independent contractors. For best results, place it in a shady, plant-filled, chemical-free spot with clean moisture nearby. If your yard has no frog habitat, add ambience first. The Frods have standards.
