Introducing the FrodHouse & Camera: a raised tree frog hotel and outdoor frog house for climbing frogs, with a close-focus night camera for watching the after-dark nonsense.

With flexible placement options, and built-in rain capture, your Frodhouse is fully optimized for peak Frod moisture. Designed with a cozy Frod hole, raised platform, and plant-friendly spots, it’s a true Frodrickotopia.
Frods are most active after dark, so it’s easy to miss their late-night escapades. That’s why the included camera captures every splash, hop, and surprise visitor in crisp detail, giving you a front-row seat to the Frod mischief.
The printed FrodHouse parts use plant-based PLA+ designed for outdoor use. Not something to toss into the garden or home-compost, but yes, there is still some kind of corn science involved.

Why the Tapo C120?
We’ve tested lots of cameras, and the Tapo C120 is a standout:
- It uses pixel-based motion detection, so it actually picks up frods (most don’t).
- The footage is super sharp—even at night.
- The app is clean, works well, and doesn’t force a subscription. Just plug in the card and you’re good to go.
Why do we need the macro lens adapter?
Out of the box, the Tapo C120 is designed to focus on things a few metres away—which is great for security, but not so great for a Frod sitting just centimetres from the lens. Without a macro lens, your footage will be blurry and unfocused up close. That’s why we had this 16 mm lens custom manufactured specifically for frod-watching—tweaking the focus range so the camera can capture sharp, detailed footage right at the entrance, where all the frod action actually happens.

Is this the same FrodHouse with a camera added?
Pretty much, but with surveillance for frog crimes. You get the raised FrodHouse tree frog hotel setup, plus the camera mount, close-focus macro lens, micro-SD card, and camera hardware needed to watch the entrance where the tiny wet drama happens.
Is FrodHouse & Camera for tree frogs or ground frogs?
It is mainly designed for climbing frogs and tree frogs: the raised platform, vertical pipe-style shelter, plant spots, and water-holding design suit frogs that are happy getting up off the ground. Ground-style toad abodes are more like little damp caves. This is more luxury frog apartment with a security system.
Why does the house sit up off the ground?
Height is useful for tree frogs, and it can also make the hangout less convenient for ground-level chaos like cane toads, cats, dogs, and other pets. It is not an invincible frog fortress, because nature loves a loophole, but raised placement is part of the design idea.
What does the pool and rain capture do?
The shallow pool and rain-capture design help create a safe hydration spot. Frogs actively look for places to hydrate, and a shallow pool lets them rest while soaking without dealing with a deep open pond situation. Keep the water clean, chemical-free, and refreshed when needed.
Why does it need a macro lens?
Most outdoor cameras are built to focus metres away. Frods, being inconsiderate little celebrities, often sit right near the entrance. The close-focus lens helps the camera capture sharp detail at frog distance instead of producing mysterious blurry potato footage.
Will it attract frogs?
It gives frogs a much better reason to visit, especially when placed in a shady, plant-filled, chemical-free spot with clean water nearby. The camera helps you see what happens after dark, when the Frods are most likely to begin their questionable little meetings.
What is it made from?
The printed FrodHouse parts are made from plant-based PLA+ and designed for outdoor use. It is durable printed frog architecture, not disposable eco-confetti, so please do not throw it into the garden or try to home-compost it.
